As part of a PlayStation 5 showcase today, Sony finally revealed the launch pricing for the PlayStation 5: $499.99 for the standard edition (€499.99, £449.99, ¥49,980) or $399 for the "All-Digital" version without a disc drive (or €399.99, £359.99, ¥39,980).
Both consoles will launch on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, followed by a November 19 launch in the rest of the world. Pre-orders will be available at select retailers starting Thursday, September 16, Sony said after the event, though some retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop in the US have made the console available as soon as Wednesday. (Update, 5:20pm EDT: Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed five first-party launch titles shipping alongside PS5 on November 12: Astro's Playroom (pre-installed for free on all PS5 consoles), Demon's Souls, Destruction All-Stars, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.)Further ReadingMicrosoft confirms $499 Xbox Series X for Nov. 10The $499 price matches Microsoft's Xbox Series X pricing on the top end of the next console generation. Sony also announced the PlayStation Plus collection, a selection of high-profile, "generation-defining" PS4 games available as a PS5-exclusive benefit with a standard PlayStation Plus membership. Included in the lineup shown: God of War, Bloodborne, Monster Hunter: World, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, Mortal Kombat X, Ratchet and Clank, Days Gone, Uncharted 4, Until Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, Battlefield 1, Infamous: Second Son, Batman: Arkham Knight, The Last Guardian, The Last of Us Remastered, Persona 5, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.Advertisement The games
Footage of Square Enix's Final Fantasy XVI led off a series of game trailers. The new game features apparently real-time battles that look heavily inspired by the like of Devil May Cry, with enemies straight out of Dark Souls and its ilk. The sword-and-sorcery setting and characters pack on the pathos, too, intoning lines like, "We do not question orders—we follow them," and "I'll kill you if it's the last thing I do" with absolutely no irony. The game will be a console-exclusive on PlayStation and will also be available on PC.

New footage of Spider-Man: Miles Morales highlights an accident that gives the titular hero glowing, electricity-based powers in addition to the standard webslinging. The fight scenes reminded us of Spider-Man by way of a game like Infamous. The PS5 launch title will also be available on the PS4.
A new Harry Potter-inspired game, Hogwarts Legacy, takes place in a late 1800s version of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where "now is the time to add your story to these hallowed halls." The trailer hints at a larger mystery that will require leaving the school and using your newfound wizarding powers to "reveal what you stand for... The choices you make now will define the legacy of Hogwarts." Look for it in 2021.
New Deathloop footage shows off some more of the parkour-inspired, telekinetic first-person gunplay. The trailer also highlights how the game's eight targets have interlocking stories that will be revealed through repeated loops through the same day. Players will have to arrange things to get multiple targets to come together in one place for more efficient killing in the game loop's strict time limit. Deathloop is coming as a PlayStation console exclusive (with a PC version) in the second quarter of 2021.Advertisement Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls features a man in medieval armor wandering dark, eerily quiet castle halls and slashing both living and undead enemies with his sword, as you might well expect. Some excellent lighting effects were in play during the trailer, from torches on walls to fire-breathing dragons to rays of moonlight filtering through open castle sconces. The game will be available at launch on the PS5 and, somewhat surprisingly, will also be coming to PC.
The showcase concluded with a brief tease of a sequel to 2019's God of War remake. "You must prepare yourself" Kratos warns, because "Ragnarok is coming" in 2021. No gameplay or cut-scene footage was shown, however.
Other games shown at the event include:A new Five Nights at Freddy's game, Security Breach, features an eerie robotic voice trying to lure you out to play in a shiny family fun center environment.
